Pamukkale to Kusadasi

It was great to relax in the morning, Skype mum and dad, and plan my route without rushing. After loading up the bike and getting all hot and sweaty in the gear it was time to head off and cool down a little on the way.

Heading to Kusadasi was mostly easy going highways………although it is impossible to know and/or understand the speed limits. There was a brief period of 120km/hr on a major highway.

I had set my destination in the GPS using the combined resources of TripAdvisor, Google Maps and ultimately the coordinates from zooming in on Google Earth to ANZAC Golden Bed Pension. As I got closer it was apparent that the GPS has every single lane in the centre of Kusadasi in it (while it is missing or avoiding some major highways throughout the country). The tight lanes became narrower before I turned up at the door of the accommodation without a missed turn.

I waited for the Australian owner while the Anatolian Shepherd, Takoz, let me know he was a little wary of me being there all dressed up in motorcycle gear. I was soon booked in and ready to get out of the hot riding suit.

Sandra, the owner, was meeting Australian/Turkish friends down in the centre of town who had reopened their cafe/restaurant/bar and a few other friends. I was happy to tag along to meet some more Australians and see a little of the place with a guide so I joined Sandra. Sandra was a great help getting a few things from the hardware store for the bike and camping equipment.

Although the streets are fairly steep the pension is so close to the old part of Kusadasi and its conveniences that it is a quick stroll down and back whenever needed.

After spending the afternoon in town I was happy to enjoy dinner on the roof terrace with a French couple. It was a relaxing evening and early night.
